Πραγματοποιήθηκε η 83η απονομή των βραβείων Oscar στο Kodak Theater και η Ακαδημία για μια ακόμη χρονιά απέδειξε την συμπάθειά της στις Βρετανικές ταινίες με το "The King's Speech" να είναι ο μεγάλος νικητής. Το "Inception" προς μεγάλη μας χαρά κι έκπληξη πήγε ιδιαίτερα καλά στις κατηγορίες που αφορούσαν τα τεχνικά σημεία ενώ από την άλλη το "The Social Network" μπορεί να θεωρηθεί ο μεγάλος χαμένος αφού δεν ανταπεξήλθε στις προσδοκίες. Ο δικός μας Λάνθιμος με το "Dogtooth" δεν κατάφερε να αποσπάσει το oscar Καλύτερης Ξενόγλωσσης Ταινίας ωστόσο εμείς παραμένουμε περήφανοι και ίσως λίγο έκπληκτοι που το “Biutiful” νικήθηκε από τον Δανέζο αντίπαλό του. Στους πρώτους ρόλους είχαμε τους αναμενώμενους νικητές όπους και στους δεύτερους με το "The Fighter" να επικρατεί. Αναλυτικά οι νικητές:
